Bruce B. Stevens is the founder of the firm of Stevens Law LLC. His main areas of practice include business law, civil litigation, personal injury, estate planning and family law. Mr. Stevens is admitted to all courts and tribunals in the State of Ohio and is admitted to the federal court of the Northern District of Ohio. Mr. Stevens has handled numerous business issues involving setting up corporations and limited liability companies, drafting contracts and business succession plans, and the sale and valuation of businesses. He has also drafted numerous estate planning documents and has been involved in all phases of litigation including numerous trials. Mr. Stevens has presented various seminars on family law issues and issues affecting Ohio limited liability companies.
Mr. Stevens is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Wood County Bar Association. He is a past president of the Wood County Bar Association (2005), a past member of the Wood County Grievance committee (2004-2009), and a current member of the Wood County Domestic Relations liaison committee. (2006-present). Mr. Stevens has law offices in Bowling Green, Ohio and Columbus, Ohio and he spends time in both offices.
Mr. Stevens was born in Bowling Green in 1973. He graduated from Bluffton College in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Mr. Stevens was named distinguished scholar in Sociology, he played football and was a student assistant coach for football, and a member of the Pi Delta academic fraternity. He helped research a project dealing with racial bias in judicial sentencing.
He received his juris doctorate from Ohio Northern University Law School with high distinction in 1999. He was a member of the Ohio Northern University Law Review and the Ohio Review Editor for the Ohio Northern University Law Review. He received the highest grade in the following classes while attending law school: Property, Remedies, Constitutional Law II, Introduction to Criminal Practice, and Municipal Law.
Mr. Stevens was on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran Home of Mercy which is a residential facility for mentally challenged adults (2007-2009). He is a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Mr. Stevens and his wife Kimberly reside in Bowling Green with their two sons.

1. Business Planning
Mr. Stevens has extensive experience in setting up corporations, closely held-corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited liability partnerships and joint ventures. The importance of setting up a business entity with limited liability is to protect the business owner from having their personal assets exposed by a company or employee’s negligent acts. Mr. Stevens has set up countless limited liability entities in Northwest Ohio and Franklin County.
2. Civil Litigation
Mr. Stevens has handled numerous civil trials throughout his years in practice. He has taken cases from the discovery stage to trial. It is important that if you have a business disagreement or are injured in an accident that you obtain legal counsel immediately. Without obtaining the advice and services of an attorney is like performing surgery without a doctor. You need representation in order to protect your rights.
3. Estate Plannning
Why should I draft a will?
- In a will you state who you want to receive your property. A well written will prevent any family fighting over what bills should be paid and who should get what property items.
- It allows you to name your own executor and to have the posting of a bond waived for your executor. If you die without a will whoever applies to be your executor or an “administrator” will have to post a bond of two times the amount of your estate. That is expensive and makes your heirs have to deal with issues that emotionally they may not be ready to deal with.
- If you do not have a will anyone can apply to administer your estate including your ex-spouse, a credit card company, any one you owe a debt to, or even your neighbor down the street. The only restriction on who may apply to administer your estate is that they can not be a convicted felon or convicted of a crime involving fraud or dishonesty.
- If you have minor children you can appoint who will look after your children and who will handle their financial affairs. If you die without a will the State of Ohio will make those decisions for you.
It is very important for everyone to have a will. The cost of drafting a will is minor compared to the cost your family will have to incur by not having one.
4. Family Law
Mr. Stevens has handled hundreds of cases involving divorce, dissolution, child custody, spousal support and child support. When going through the tough times which are inevitable in the breakup of a marriage or relationship you need someone who is experience in those matters and who will advocate on your behalf so that you and your children’s rights are protected. You need someone who will make sure you receive what you are entitled to under the law. .
5. Criminal Law
The body of law that pertains to crimes against public authority — the federal or state governments, for example — is known as criminal law. These are the statutes that executive branch officials have the power to enforce. People who violate these laws may be apprehended by police and tried in a court of law. If convicted, they face the punishment prescribed by the trial court. If the convicted person feels that his constitutional rights have been violated, he may appeal the case to the Supreme Court. When facing a criminal law charge you need someone on your side to make sure your rights are protected. The government has vast resources to prosecute you. A criminal defendant only has his attorney to make sure the process is fair. Mr. Stevens has handled hundreds of criminal and traffic cases throughout Northwest Ohio.
